What is Pro-Leadership Coaching?
The Challenge: Today, executive and business leaders are continually being challenged to innovate and create in addition to securing profits that will sustain the organization while continuing to grow in an ever fluxing economy. Stress levels escalate during periods of change and reorganizations until they are considered “normal” or “it’s just part of doing business.” Unfortunately, this is the attitude and baseline we have adopted in the business world thus creating even greater stress expectations in the work environment.
The Reality: One executive client recently told me that stress actually motivated him. In reality, he likes the challenge of a situation to embrace and improve his performance moving him into a period of maximum efficiency. We have all experienced this type of motivation. However, over time, if the same challenge exists, we move into a hyper-reactive state and become emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted. This is where stress starts to break down our ability to focus with mental clarity, our ability to relax and sleep well along with the struggle to motivate yourself and others.
The Science of HeartMath®: With over 25 years of experience becoming certified in different modalities and stress reduction techniques, the difference I’ve experienced with HeartMath is the science and research that is proven. Especially in ways to reduce stress and increase well-being in four domains of resiliency: Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. When I learned I had the power to control my emotions by simple techniques and produce DHEA (life vitality hormone) instead of cortisol (stress hormone), my life changed. My business flourished. My relationships improved.
The Technology: HeartMath techniques produce “coherent” heart rate variabilities (HRV) that can be measured and monitored to reduce stress effects. Once coherent, you can increase and sustain levels of coherency by daily practice and monitoring through HeartMath’s technology tools and applications. The higher your coherency ratio, the more capacity you build for resiliency. Thus, when an unexpected, stressful event or ankle biting moment happens, your internal battery holding resilient energy doesn’t drain completely and you can manage through the situation more efficiently and effectively.
The Coherent High: As I have been coaching executives and business leaders in HeartMath for the past three years, I have observed a “coherent high” that I have never witnessed with business leaders. After a few days of integration and practice, the shift is evident and success stories start to flow about improved communications, relationships and situations, both personally and professionally. One executive said he actually felt “high” after practicing the techniques, quit drinking as much and started to run and exercise again. Thus, being in the coherent zone gives you much more energy to feel good again and not resort to the old patterns of relieving stress… a new coherent high!
